Israel bombarded downtown Gaza City on Tuesday and expanded a massive mobilization of reservists, vowing punishing retaliation against the Hamas militant group that increasingly left residents of the tiny Palestinian territory with nowhere to go.

Four days after militants stormed into Israel, bringing gunbattles to its streets for the first time in decades, Israel’s military said Tuesday morning that it had regained effective control over its south and the border.

you can say what ever you want about the politics but kidnapping women little kids and old ladys and gunning down people at a music fest is a war crime and in no way acceptable in my opinion.

Hamas has repeatedly said that they would do this to Israel and worse. If they had the same discipline to care for their people as Israelites had done for theirs, they would have the same technological power to oppose Israel, but they dont and they will never will. They’ll rather spend resources attacking Israel than to help their own people. Tunnels, guns, ammunition, planning aren’t cheap.

Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, which triggered a devastating war that caused massive destruction and casualties in Gaza and Israel. Hamas may have sought support from its allies, such as Iran, to challenge Israel’s military superiority. Hamas also used civilian buildings as shelters and weapons storage, exposing the innocent population to the risk of Israeli airstrikes.

As a retired professional U.S. Army soldier (E8/1972-1993) and former Defense Contractor (2005-2010) I think the time for restraint ended when over 250 men, women and children were massacred at that Israeli festival. The people who killed them showed no compassion or mercy whatsoever. Maybe everyone needs to see those videos of the carnage at that festival that don’t get shown by the mainstream media. How would we react in such a case if it were your loved ones massacred at that festival? For several decades now we have tied the hands of the Israelis when dealing with the Palestinians and their constant violence against Israel and what do we have to show for that? It is our forcing of Israel to accept a two-state solution in the 1990s by the Clinton Presidency that has led directly to this disaster. The PLO should never have been allowed to return to Israel. Hamas and the PLO has used our compassion and mercy as a cynical weapon against us and continue to do so. If Hamas cared at all about their people, they would not be doing this. It is long past time to let Israel do what we all know they need to do here, that is to get rid of Hamas once and for all, however long it takes, and no matter what it takes.
