MacArthur Foundation, it's not too late to award Everett a MacArthur Fellowship! The man is a literary genius and has been incredibly prolific in spite of the obligation to teach, which is draining, however rewarding. That he never received a "genius" grant is a serious omission. I want to read whatever he writes next, and it will be a loss to American literature if he's without the time and energy to do so. Thank you, Mr. Everett, for telling the truth through your fiction. Gratefully, A fan since Erasure.

To be honest I always hated Huckleberry Finn, Just finished erasure and now I feel I have to read everything by Mr. Everett! I'm excited to read about the world of James.

Find all of this to be absolute bullshit! From now on, no one will be satisfied with any story or character is presented by it's creator, Everett is not the inventor of Jim, it is absolutely Twains. No one has the right to tell their version without the author's consent, and what I find infuriating is that the book is written at what would have been 4th or 5th grade level and readers are calling it a masterwork of writing, while calling Huckleberry Finn, unreadable! Everertt, from this day forward, will take all the credit for something that wasn't even his to begin with, and that will open all the doors for minorities to go back and revisit any character that they feel needs their whole story told to an audience that will only accept a bunch of misfit characters that were greatly misunderstood and probably ruining the plot of the original work. Disney did it's shit with Malificent, thereby, sacrificing everyone in Sleeping Beauty. Every minority and minority within a minority will now rewrite and story told by better writers for the sake of convenience and a fast buck, and if a mayor prize or two comes along in the name of diversity rewarded, better yet! Must go back and find a character that left me, unconvinced, and start telling his story and by today's standards and not the times of the parent work!

I’ll keep it vague to avoid spoilers, but the last line of book is 🔥 as is the 📕 entirely. 📖🪱💚
