We need a tutorial to actually be able to know market rates though. Everything I always see is WILDLY inconsistent

You taught me to always negotiate. I was so scared to do it and everyone told me to take what I was offered but I’m so glad I followed your advice. Not only did I get the job but I got exactly what I asked for when I asked. The worst they can do is say no.

Not for nothing, I'd get nervous doing that and for some reason feel like they will change their mind and not offer me the job. Idk if I'm over thinking it or I'm too anxious. I love these videos are a big motivator. I just wonder if anyone else has felt this way too.😅

Great tips!! First time I did it, I literally took what one of your videos said word-for-word. Rehearsed it a few times, then called the hiring manager. Worked wonderfully!!

Thing is : when you are a student or a recent graduate, people are like "you cant allow yourself to negociate in your position. You are only a young person with not a lot of exp, you dont have the right to be picky. Just accept and stop being entitled when you should thank us."

And i mean.. okay but sometimes they really anusing their powers
Any tips to fight that Erin ??

I tried to do that and they changed their minds and found a different candidate. BUT I’ll give you the context: I am a fresh graduate with no experience and who lives in a foreign country where they can find someone way chipper. So right now I feel hopeless and agree to whatever salary there provide just to land at least something so I can get experience and visa. And it would be nice if you could give me any suggestions ❤

What if the upgrade is not what you expected? Like "You want it closer to 90k? Take 81k instead of 80k." Sometimes the HR people are terrible.

I want to say, I actually used this tactic on my promotion. I am now making an extra $3/hr, so I find this helpful

Thank you so much for your videos! I've been watching for a year or so and been applying for my dream job a few weeks ago and for the the first time in my life felt so confident in my application and the interview. It was only for a five month internship and most companies in my feld don't pay for those at all but I got a really well paying one at my absolute dream company that I wouldn't even have applied for if I hadn't gained the confidence and skills.

Don’t wait for the offer to negotiate. Your first interview with the recruiter is the time to mention the salary range you want so they are aware of your price as you interview. Then follow the steps in this video!

Just tried this and somehow they had 0 wiggle room. 🚩 wish it were this simple!

Sadly in healthcare there is no negotiating salary. You get what the hospital or home care pays you especially home care where are the insurance companies and the State Medicaid system sets the rate for nurses and home health aides. And while hospitals and nursing homes got double-digit increases in what nurses and home health aides are paid Home Care nurses and home health aides got 0% increase from State Medicaid systems this year in Pennsylvania

This is exactly what I was looking for😊

For new grads who have little experience outside the classroom, how would one negotiate “additional skills”? Also, how do you know what market rate is for the position?

I'm too terrified that they'll rescind altogether.

I wish they would have taught this when I went to college because I was never good at negotiating salaries in my early twenties

Hi Erin love your videos! I'm in a temporary position and negotiating a permanent position, hopefully with a pay raise too since I have now demonstrated what I can do. I would love a video about a similar situation - negotiating with an existing friendly manager. I'm a people pleaser but also want to advocate for myself. I find it is easier to negotiate with people I don't know 😅

At my employer once you receive the verbal offer they start verbal negotiations asking what your expectations are, have the number and research for the number ready to verbally discuss. Then they send a written. When I got my offer I also asked to see all the benefits and negotiated several aspects of pay, vacation and severance based upon what I received.
