My granddaddy (Hohenwald, TN) loved mules and worked them on his farm until his death in 1966 (age 71). His last team was comprised of Jack and Kate. Jack was your stereotypical stubborn and ill-tempered mule. Kate was very gentle and calm. Whereas I was allowed (as a 12-year-old) to take and ride Kate by myself, my father never allowed me to be with Jack by myself. Mules are like people...all different and with different temperaments.

I lived in Utah I traded for a four year old mule better trad I ever made he would do anything I asked of him

If mules are misunderstood in USA!!!! But in other places this statment is totally wrong .

But is it animal cruelty? Sorry....my mindbent is always to question the humaneness and fairness with which we treat our animals!
