What does Hamas' leadership structure look like? | DW News

Israeli forces operating in Gaza continue to hunt for local Hamas leader Yehya Sinwar. Sinwar is believed to be the mastermind behind the October 7 terror attacks perpetrated by Hamas, which the US and the EU have designated a terrorist organization. Sinwar spent years in Israeli jails, learning Hebrew and studying his captors.

Here's what we know about the leaders of the group:
Hamas' top leader is Ismail Haniyeh. He functions as its international spokesman and is based in Qatar — out of reach for Israeli ground forces. Mohammed Deif is the head commander of the Qassam brigades — Hamas's military wing. He is believed to have played a crucial role in planning the October 7th terror attacks.
His deputy, Marwan Issa, is also wanted by Israel — as part of Hamas' three-man military council.
And then comes Yehya Sinwar, the top of Israel's hit list. He's considered the mastermind of the Oct. 7 attacks and the head of Hamas in Gaza.

To be more accurate, an israeli doctor saved sinwar's life by removing a brain tumor. Ironically, had they let him die, he wouldn't had used his brain to mastermind the attack.

We have already seen the photos and videos of them flooding the tunnels. When was this report made?

The UN prefer to maintain the Palestinians' refugees status because they get tons of money and power in behalf of the "Palestinian cause".
The UN have 2 refugees agencies - UNHCR for around 100mil refugees around the world, and UNRWA only for the Palestinians.
Please read about UNRWA funds.
It's just absurd that the Palestinians still see themselves as refugees for 75 years.
They could already have their own country but their leaders have refused any attempt for peace during the history (including the Oslo and Camp David talks in the 90s and 00s) and have never offered an alternative.
Their "refugees camps" are actually proper cities.
Their leaders are corrupted, they prefer to get the money coming from donations, keep the people poor, and always blame Israel for all their problem.
They never really try to SOLVE the problem but they rather USE the problem for their own good.

Am confused. Why would Hamas sacrifice all these civilians just to free some prisoners.

население Газы в 1970 году составляло 400 000 человек, в 2023 году было 2 200 000 человек, население увеличилось в 5, 5 раза, и это называется оккупацией?

It has been proven that the hostage met someone who resembles Sinwar but not Sinwar

Imagine Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, Julius Caesar, or Richard the Lionheart hidden in a tunnel, leaving babies, kids, and women on the battlefield. Instead of doing something so shameful, they would rather die.
