Animals are smaller because there are fewer trees. Trees use carbon dioxide and release oxygen. An oxygen rich atmosphere produces larger animals.

Why does there need to be giant animals? Size is irrelevant and relative, if your an amoeba then a squirrel is gargantuan, there is not a direct proportion between size and longevity, a terrior will live longer than a mastiff.

Oxygen levels were 30 percent back then compared to 13 percent today

The air was much more oxygen-saturated, so creatures could get much bigger and the O2 would support those massive metabolism

How long does a horse live?
They're much bigger than a human and humans live to be 80-100 years old.
A horse must live to 1000 if a larger body size correlates to a longer lifespan.

The oxygen levels were much higher back then and evolution played a big part as well.

Yes, oxygen levels were higher in the atmosphere.

Please keep in mind that this does not mean some people lived for over 900 years.
