Always enjoy seeing the improvements you make in the shop. And I like how you build the tools so you will have them when you need them. I tend to need the tool, then have to take the time to make it to do the job. Always a pleasure Chuck. Gary

that is right, it isn't because you need it but because you want it. 🙂

as a woodworker, I use that type of hold down a lot. To release it just tap on the back where it's straight toward the foot. it will release it. Yours came out nice. Love how happy your dog is, give him a scratch behind the ears for me.

I wonder how long it would take to hacksaw that by hand? lol and square too! Probably the thickest bit of steel that has ever cut in it's life! - maybe not! Turned out brilliant, though, making an extremely versatile tool, and that hold down is ingenious! Thank you for sharing, Chuck - and good 'ol Howie too!

Wish I could find a big anvil like that for a reasonable price. I have to make due with the chunk of railroad rail I had one of my clients snag me. Fun projects Chuck. Good to see Howie doing well.

Hello Chuck,
I have been searching for a trolley like that... they are available here but to expensive, I think I need to go dumpster diving at the local hospital.
Cheers.

I can admit that I am also a "tool nut". Only my adiction is electronic test equipment. So don't feel alone. Really like your additions for your forging tools, seem quite logical. Thanks for the look and your time.

Hey in regards to running it on one burner get a regular sized fire brick cut it to size and it will act as a backstop and you can run on 1 burner just fine all day

Nice work Chuck, I am just about to glue some wood off cuts to make an anvil stand. I think Essential Craftsman did a video on the correct height for an anvil. Kindest regards from Bonnie Scotland. Joe.

Nice tools chuck. Looks like you got that anvil all ready for when every you need to annoy your neighbors. However you are missing that coal smell -- got to do something about that.
Will have to stop over one of these days.

Dumpster diving is great, just remember to leave your cell phone in the car, , , hehe! Last dive I took for $10 buck of scrap cost me a $400 cell phone (@@)! Any way, great to see you and Howy enjoying hang out in the shop and having fun :)> PS. Yes, I said a year ago, , , "NO More Estate sale's"...Just made a Big Score, , so will shoot a vid when it all gets to the shop. Bear.

Short but sweet! I'm wondering what your first forge project is going to be. KOKO!

Your forge lining (ceramic wool) appears to be uncoated. You should apply a rigidizer, and then kastolite 30 (or equivalent). This will reduce the blowing of ceramic fibers into the air (not good to breath). Nice anvil, mine is beat to hell.
