For those who don't know what unlapping is/ why you would do it.
Lewis had managed to get a whole lap ahead of a number of cars during the race, one of whom was sainz. Now sainz with fresher tyres was actually beating Lewis on pace by the point in the race of this video, and could therefore catch up to Lewis as he had and effectively try to overtake Lewis, to unlap himself so that he would be slightly less than a lap behind Lewis by the end of the race. The reason this was important was that ferrari could see on the time board that if sainz could unlap himself and get passed Lewis, sainz should then have time to catch up to the car that was ahead of him on points in the race. Lewis obviously is miles ahead so not him. And by unlapping himself/getting past Lewis, it would mean sainz would have both the clean air and the extra lap at the end of the race to try and catch up to the other driver further up the track that sainz was actually racing for points. Anyone in a race who gets lapped (i.e. Ends up at least a whole lap behind), by the time the race finishes will not get to complete every lap of the race, they will miss out on as many laps as they got lapped.
Lewis let sainz passed because it wouldn't have affected his race, and so sainz was able to speed off in clean air and with the full number of laps of the race to be able to try and catch up to the car ahead of him on points.
Lewis could have just sat in front and not let him passed, but that could have forced sainz to try and overtake which could have resulted in an accident.
