Supping one of my fav red wine, sat here listening to this classic and remembering how much fun it was drumming along to. Learned drums from the Groundsman at school in my dinner hour. Because school diners were so bad. He charged me an eyewatering 10p an hour mid 80s. Then sold me my first kit, my dear old nan had put money away for me for the future. Managed to get a base drum + pedal, snare, two tom toms, crash and ride cymbals, hi hat cymbals + pedal and all stands along with a small hi fi into a mini. To hire a village hall to practice. Could not afford a metronome back then so borrowed a hi fi for timing and played along to all my records of Quo. Thankyou Quo. How do you know when it's a drummer knocking at the door? Knocking gets faster. Joke at the time. Never take life too seriously, where possible. No one gets out alive. Try Quo instead. Rossi is self taught lead guitar I heard once. That guitar solo is pretty amazing. So is the way Lancaster comes in with the bass after the intro. Very sadly missed Alan. Bloody legend, like Parfitt.

Thanks Mr. Rossi.
Me and my friends loved you and your comrades since 1967.

ALAN CHARLES LANCASTER otherwise known as NUFF, has passed away in Sydney, his home for 45 years.
The founding member and the backbone of STATUS QUO had been suffering from Multiple Sclerosis for many years.
Alan battled on bravely, performing at QUO's Reunion gigs in 2013 and 2014.
Even though he had MS, Alan's performance and his vocals were the strongest of the three.
My favourite member of QUO is Alan Lancaster.
I had the pleasure of having a beer and a smoke with Alan at a Sydney pub gig, in Five Dock, when he had The Lancaster Bombers and The Lancaster/Brewster Bands in the late 80's.
We had a longer chat at The Lewisham Hotel as well.
These were dirty, grungy hotels, though this didn't phase the great man of the people.
Alan was the most beautifil man, very humble, down to earth and a great guy to talk with and have a laugh.
Vale Alan ( Nuff ) Lancaster
RIP mate, you were one of the greatest Rockers of all time

I bought this album 46 years ago and still love it. I worked for their record company and got to meet them . It was a great day.

I too bought this album when it first came out. I used to play this track really loud. I lived in a block of flats and used to drive the neighbours mad. I loved it!!!

One of my favourite Quo songs. At full volume when I'm driving my car.

Although my all time favorite Quo album is On The Level (which I still think is one of the best rock albums ever made), in a sense, this is the quintessential Quo right here, and Piledriver was Quo's quintessential LP. Stripped down, simply produced (underproduced, arguably), and straight ahead, jagged blues rock shuffle. One can almost sense the beer flowing in the pub with this band playing this track live.

I love this blues rock tune by status quo. I love playing it and singing it. Status were way beyond their time. There an awesome blues rock band.

A friend of a friend once heard a Quo tribute band were playing a live set, at a location they knew of, local to them. They were then was good enough to let me know about it, even though it wasn't exactly the type of music they were into. We went along for a listen. One of the best times of my life. When there, I tried turning my back to the music and closing my eyes and could not tell the difference compared the real Quo. Happy days. Response to article only.
