2016 Lexus LX 570 vs 2006 Lexus LX 470
Показать описание
Most people assume new is always best, especially with cars. So we compared an all-new 2016 Lexus LX 570 to a 10-year-old Lexus LX 470 -- and the results are kind of surprising.
Age Is Just a Number
First, we were shocked at how well the older Lexus has aged -- it still looks good inside and out. In fact, most of our staff preferred the exterior look of the old SUV compared to the newer one.
Inside is where the 470 feels a little dated, but it still looks and feels luxurious.
Another thing we like more about the old Lexus is the driving experience. The 2016 LX 570 has over 100 more horsepower than the 2006 model, but it's the older LX 470 that actually feels quicker. The new version feels kind of sluggish by comparison. The new LX feels much more isolated from the outside environment, however.
Pros and Cons
Tech and safety are two areas in which the new Lexus really tops the old one. The 2016 LX 570 has features such as Lexus Enform, a wireless charging tray, 19-speaker audio, USB ports, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning and a power-folding third row. None of these features is on our 2006 LX.
The old LX comes from a different era -- one when the design was about function rather than form. The driving experience favored road feel rather than comfort, and the Toyota engineers were scratching their heads to figure out how to add extra ground clearance rather than extra stereo speakers.
If you can't swing the $90,000 price tag of a new Lexus LX 570, we think a good, clean, used Lexus LX 470 is well worth the average asking price of $20-$25K.
