The Real Problem with Open Source is 🤦

Something happened this week on Open-source and I think we should talk about it.

Some users didn't take it well. This opens the discussion on the sustainability of OSS, is it really dead, or does the problem rely elsewhere?

As a maintainer of an open-source project (Compiiile), I relate so much. People don't get open-source at all, and it is quite frustrating. But as passionate people, we keep doing it and sharing useful projects, that's the beauty of OSS. Btw, thank you for what you are bringing to the Vue ecosystem ✨

- people need to be educated about Open Source, because it is misunderstood by quite a few new developers
- I will add a new sponsor to my list once I have a new freelance contract to pay back some of those folks

IMO Johnson is doing a great job communicating the "paid subscription" he is offering, way better than some companies do about their business models 🙈

I really hope that more companies can be convinced to sponsor Open Source projects, and I write that not only as a maintainer but also as a heavy user of Open Source software. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
