My wife, Emily and Erin join Cali and I to have an early Christmas dinner prepared on the wood cookstove in my off grid log cabin.

I myself have two daughters in their 30’s. Our lives feel complete when they and all come to visit us in our 1940’s cabin on a River here in IL. Every little task, improvement, seems worth it all in these moments.

Shawn, I have been following you for quite a while and let me tell you, you have worked hard and have done what a lot of us would like to do but for one reason or another we are what we are. You have a beautiful family and I hope you cherish that. I'm 85 years old and on the downhill now so cherish what you have now and remember the good times and tender moments you share with your loved ones. This was a beautiful video and yes, it brought a tear to my eye because life is short, and I know this beautiful life can't last. I wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas. Shawn, I've watched all the episodes from the beginning of the first cabin. It was beautiful. Watched the new cabin rise from the forest floor and also the greenhouse. Cali has been by your side for most of this time. I've watched Emily with your help build her cabin. But this episode shows why you spent this time and effort to make a beautiful home. The wife and girls helping with the meal, all the fresh ingredients and the love put into the meal was beautiful. The interior is decorated tastefully, and everyone enjoys it. I was touched by this. It felt like the culmination of everything that's gone before and the christening of the cabin and it's place in your family. I feel like I know it intimately. It's not just any cabin in the woods but one I saw built. I have an understanding of what it took and where it came from. It was an empty plot of land that grew into a warm and protective home. I appreciate the time and effort and the sharing. Others lives are made richer because of it and I feel a vested emotional interest in a place I will never visit and people I will never meet.
