How I plan a painting, book recommendation and watch me paint!
Показать описание
A week of planning paintings!
This week I wanted to share my thought process of not only how I start a painting in the studio, but share with Art Life an introduction to how I plan for and “put together” composition, colour palette and processes for new work!
The hardest aspect of living as a full time artist is forming and condensing ideas into a painting that is *authentic* to what your passionate about as an artist! It’s so easy to feel pressurised to “produce, sell and commercialise” work in a competitive industry.. so this episode is me working through this new painting and trying to be honest with what I am interested in and why I make the decisions I do!!
I will keep sharing the progress of this new diptych oil study on my Instagram @jessoliverart but home you enjoy the more intimate insight into my practise and crazy thought processes!!
Books to recommend this week include “Painting Landscape- lessons in landscape oil painting” by Suzanne Brooker and the English Pastoral - An Inheritance by James Rebanks.
My current theme here is exploring a tapestry of romantic neo classical landscapes (that have personal connections to me) and examining how inventing a whimsical composition of light, water, serenity and hidden personality can evoke a sense of “dreamy voyage” within the world I create!
Thanks for watching guys and I’ll see you next week for more studio time with me! Don’t forget to like and subscribe!! I really appreciate your support with this channel!!
