Hi All! I can confirm that issue! Own two Neos and it happened with both of them- Controlling them with the RC-N3 controller- suddenly the drone drifted back, then flew randomly in every direction- no, false, or barely reaction to controller commands- the first landed in a tree 15 m above highwater- got it in the end, but don't ask how. But much worse was the incident with my second Neo: I was flying about 46m above and filming 4k30fps- suddenly it completely went mad, starts to sink fast, then speeding up to frightening levels moving right backwards in an unstable position, then changing direction again pushing full speed towards a parking space, there stripped a tree and crashed with damage. Was lucky no one was around. Imagine this little thing hitting someone in the head from behind at that speed! This really needs to be fixed!!! DJI immediately replaced my first Neo confirming the case as a warranty issue, the second is at inspection. In both cases I was filming at 4k30fps. What I soon recognized with both units: Sometimes it catches 32 Satellites immediately after powering up and the number doesn't change significantly during flight. But often it does have problems to find enough satellites an the then shown low number of them even gets reduced to 'not enough' during flight (Happens at the same place, same time). I also can confirm that both drones behaved well again after restart. We all need to keep an eye on this dangerous issue- reports like this are hard to find! Greetingz!

I think that the main problem is that some youtubers want to use a DJI Neo drone for what is not intended to. C'mon it's a $199 and a 135g drone and you want it to perform stunts as it were a more heavy and expensive one.

I have mine for one month now, and I always use it on automatic self flying or paired with my phone and never experienced an issue with it. (I own another drone for high and far quality video images) I use it exclusively for b rolls. I simply love it since it's so quick to set up and use especially when traveling! By the way, you can experience issues with EVERYTHING you buy! Cars, bikes (especially electric ones), motorcycles, even airplanes... so... I would still recommand it!

I had simmular issue. My 5th flight (ever) new bought DJI Neo. Open airfield. 320m forward and 100m high. Very smooth air. Suddenly red warning (Strong wind). I push RTH button and drone just fall down in 4 seconds. No damage. Next day I was flying near (but not over) the river. All the time recording 4K. While hovering about 10 seconds drone start moving left and became unresponsive. RTH button break this unresponsive state. When auto-flying RTH i catch control again.

Exactly the same issue happen to my DJI Neo when connected to the controller. Was recording 4K video and had been flying for around 20 minutes (second battery) when I lost complete control of the drone. A red warning label appeared on phone screen which I had little time to read which I thought referred to IMU failure. Neo crash landed, fortunately where I could recover it but with damage. After a short while I launched the Neo again and seemed to fly OK. I do believe it has a fault as you have suggested.

I had mine lose control indoors 3 times in a day of shooting. It just stopped responding to sticks and sped up in a single direction. It’s within the 15 day replacement policy time, so I’m sending it back tomorrow.
I was recording in 4K. I didn’t think to turn on RC 2 recording. I also had it lose control with googles and the motion controller indoors.

My Neo has thrown a fit three times when it lost GPS signal. Twice indoors and once outside.
The outside event was at about knee height between houses. I was flying FPV with the Avata 2's Goggles 3 and Motion controller. In split second it rolled over and pancaked into the ground upside down.
Indoors it yawed left and right smacking a wall. The third time it stabilized and didn't crash.
All three times it was in Normal mode and the "fit" was proceeded with the GPS lost warning.

I just got over the anxiety of letting the Neo fly autonomously and than this happened to me.
Flying with the RC-N3 controller, filming the entire flight in 4k.
It started the same malfunction after a couple of minutes flying but didn't turn off the recording.
RTH was not available, only landing but of course no where to land.
I managed to fly it towards me and initiated landing.
Right after initiating landing, it stabelised and landed perfectly.
Next time this happens, I'll remember this video and stop recording.
If this is an issue that can be resolved by stopping filming, it could be added to the software I guess.

im really liking this drone, i have racing drones, the mavic pro, mavic air, and the dji fpv, but here we have a sub 250g that can do acro far better then i would have believed had i not seen it. i have racing drones, and video drones, here we have a sub 250, that can do acro, and could be flown by someone that hasnt flown before, practically anywhere. it definitly brings something new to the table. if this could work with the dji fpv googles and remote i would have one already.

Mine crashed last week, I was continuosly recording, it seems that it overheated as you say, it stoped in the air, was hovering than the drone felt down from about 100 meters high, thanks god there were no people around and nobody was injured. I was quite far away from the drone but anyway it was possible to take off again, and after it took of it acted strange, it flew to the left in the woods, hit a tree and crashed again. Even after second crash, I still had the video signal and connection, it took off again and I managed to bring the drone near my position. I experienced a broken propeller and a crack on the body. The next day, I took it for another flight and after checking the video I noticed it became shaky on the edges, seems that camera needs to be stabilized again, I guess a service intervention will be needed. But as everybody from drone community says: be ready for crashes, you will crash a lot, this is part of the activity. And just for notice, I was not flying the DJI Neo aggressively, or doing tricks, just simple video recording of a lake at slow speed.

This happened to me more than once. I have years of flying too. I think it’s something to do with the GPS lock. I jumped from acro mode to normal and it didn’t have a gps lock all of a sudden and it just took off on its on to the side and up. Not weather related, mbs got as low as maybe 28-30 but that was it. Satellite count was not steady at all though. I can duplicate this rather easily by flying in acro/manual and hitting the break button that shoots it back to normal. FYI- I’m the guy who originally reported the rx loss issue with videos for the fpv2 controller and 03 back in March 2023. First people didn’t believe it (like this chat lol) then DJI did nothing to fix it. I feel your pain and thank you for stepping up and posting this 💪😎

Thanks for this video. Whats your best guess for noise comparison of Neo versus 2 other drones: original Avata, and the Mini 3 Pro? Thanks for any advice.

This sounds like an out of memory or buffer overrun issue. Most likely they are using modified firmware that was originally for the Avata, which I'm sure has more memory and processing capabilities, and they failed to make certain adjustments to account for less memory\processing. This should be fixable with a firmware update. Hopefully DJI is able to resolve soon.

Just a quick thought. Could it possibly be that you were screen recording on your phone and it was your phone that was getting overloaded. Might be worth going somewhere open and try some flights with and without screen recording 🤔

I was flying my NEO next to the beach somewhere outback with no one around, I was flying over the seaside, all of sudden I noticed I dont have control on it, Map was showing drone is way over the ocean but after 30 seconds I notieced its on the opposite, I got control back and decided to land quickly, then again I lost contro and Neo was action super strange, moving around fast speed and gone to the ocean! and I lost it. I had most DJI drones since Spark and Mini 1, but this one was a terrible.
