How do you account for the right-hand edge being exactly where you need it? What I dont want to do is scribe the left and still have the right hand side stick out, etc.

how do you measure the width needed to make it sit flush?

Does it go to 12 in ?? Sometimes bigger

That’s huge mark to take too much of material. With baseboard always find the biggest gap on each piece set you scribe gauge to that using a tape measure and boom.
