True story: I had the chance to meet Mariah backstage and kiss her hand during her Charmbracelet Tour. One of the best moments of my entire life.

The generation of today needs to be schooled on Mariah, Janet, Michael, Prince Britney, Whitney, Madonna and Cher! BTW: I know there are other legends I could name but these are just examples

Another fun fact about Charmbracelet - she returned to her signature curls during promo as a throwback to her days in the early 90s. It was meant to remind the audience of that era in her career, presumably to demonstrate she's still "the same Mariah" as before. Not sure if this was her strategy, or the label's desire.

It’s crazy how overlooked this album is. Mariah’s vocals were out of this world during that era.

Charmbracelet is a really fine album. Some of her best music is here. “Bringin on the Heartbreak” and “You Had Your Chance” are my all time favs for like 15 years now.
One thing I’ll point out is that critics tend to be pretty sexist when it comes voices of artists. Its female artists aren’t allowed to age and have their voices change, which is a very natural process. Mariah, Beyoncé and Celine don’t have the same voice they did in the first half of their careers but they can still do wonders with their voices. And it’s not even that their changed voices are any bad. They’re still some of the most beautiful voices of our times. Caution, Courage and Black Is King are proofs of that.

Also her voice during this era was amazing, it had matured after Butterfly yet it retained Daydream's silkiness. Although her album underperformed her World tour was a complete success I do belive it really helped that the tour slayed because Island Deff signed her with a clear image in mind and she did not deliver because that was not her. You can't put the cat back into the box after is out and Butterfly really changed her entire image yet it was not shocking enough to damage her image, yes her music had a change with the instruments sounds, coming from a delicate balladeer with soul and RnB infusions into a a more urban sound really deriving from Hip hop, RnB and rap, the sound of the streets that she grew up with however she did not compromise her vocal prowess just because she a lighter and very different sound, she is still delivering vocal acrobatics, sick runs and master belting think songs like Honey, Boy (I need toy), The One, We belong together, It's like that's, Say Something, Touch my body which is one of her silliest songs, however if you try to sing them I can without a doubt say you will struggle with it, Honey has entire phrases in uppee belt, Boy even has a whistle, We belong together has an entire bridge sung in one breath, then heads into the chorus with a small amount of time but a high volume of words and remember that after the bridge she is out of breath completely and just to push the emotion of desperation she sings an entire chorus in the 5th octave switching registers, adding vocal breaks for emotion, reaches a sort of cry themat envelops the emotion perfectly, It's like that has a huge climax and the same goes to Touch my body with upper chest belting, this only goes to say and prove that she really merged her love and success in a recipe that ended up becoming the precursor of modern day music in the airways, . and that success made Butterfly one of the most influential albums in history, since her Charmbracelet tour made big bucks I think they gave her another chance and understood what she had to do to be back in the spotlight and that was to simply not mess with her musical identity which she fought for a long time, from this understanding The Emancipation of Mimi was born. This made Charmbracelet a transition album, sort of forgotten but pivotal in Mariah's career and served as proof that she has better instincts than anybody else when it comes to musical trends, 28 years into her career and she got the best reviewed album of her career, a career that has 2 diamond albums, 19 #1 songs, Artist of the Millennium, 2 songs of the decade 3 #1 debut at hot 100 and one of the most incredible voices ever.

Charmbracelet is the first Mariah's album that I have ever bought.I was so impressed and amazed by her voice's flexibility and her jazzy vibes. We need to admit that the album was not a commercial failure selling over a million copies in the States alone. Yours is still one of my all time favourites.

Listening to her greatest hits album, I notices something. She's one of the only artist that I can recall that consistently uses "big" words in her songs and A. speaks them very clearly B. rhymes them to something else effortlessly and C. isn't just using the word for rhyming, it actual fits into the story of the song. Genius.

"Through The Rain" was actually a huge hit in my country. It is considered as her signature song. Unfortunately, we don't buy singles, so their labels have to ask the radio and MTV to play their songs heavily to boost their album sales. And i feel like Universal didn't see any potential to ship a lot of albums outside of the US, because the physical copies of Charmbracelet were very limited in my country.

(I heard that Music Box and Daydream were sold over more than 1 million copies here, but the data was somewhat inaccurate because we didn't count album sales officially back then.)
