In this video, I show you how to setup a Git Bare Repository in order to backup/manage your dotfiles on a site like Gitlab. This works on any of the Git websites as far as I know and its a really good way to manage your dot files so when you "distro hop" you can grab all of your existing dot files and get back up and going quickly. I am a beginner in Linux, and when I was searching for how to save dot files, I noticed two methods, one using git bare repository and the other method using stow. What is the difference between them? Why do I use one method over the other?
