Spanish - The Verb “Ir” Explained In 6 Minutes

In this video, I’m explaining the verb “ir” in Spanish. The verb “ir” means to go, and in English, this verb has more tricky usages than you think. In English, you can use the present simple and the present progressive with to go (as in I go and I am going), and there is also a big difference between using “to go” and “to go to.” In Spanish, “ir” is an irregular verb which means that it has a conjugational syntax that completely doesn’t follow the word “ir” itself. Its conjugations follow the present simple and the present progressive at once, and in order to use “ir” more specifically, you’ll need to add the preposition “a” at the end. “Ir” means “to go,” and “ir a” means “to go to (somewhere or do something).” Throughout the entire video, I cover the verb “ir” as much as possible because it’s one of the trickiest verbs to work with in Spanish, and towards the end of the video, I provide more examples than usual to make this concept more understandable.

Feel free to share this video with people you know who love learning languages or with people in general. I very much appreciate the support.

You are kinda wrong here... Up until 1:16 it's exactly the same in Spanish. We have go/to be going distinction and it's just like in English...
I go = (yo) voy ---> in general
I am going = (yo) estoy yendo ---> right now
