Whoever made that pipe hole deserves a medal. Made 2 holes looks like they missed and tried again 😮

Oh boy. Just install a frost bib. It drains the water and you don’t need to cover it with that stupid thing or worry about frost.

could have picked a better example where this gadget will work. That large gap is gonna be a major air leak.

i wonder how well this does considering if you don’t halfway open your pipes

What do you do when the rubber piece breaks?

What do you consider "extreme cold"? I have remote shutoffs in the basement and shut them off there, open the valves outside, and try not to get fooled by a warm March day. I turned on the water because it was around 50F and a few days later it got down to 10F. I shut the valve in the basement off but forgot the outside. When I turned the basement valve on a month or so later the pinhole in the pipe produced a stream that cut through drywall.

I have a frost tolerant sillcock/hose bib and access panel now...

How about installing a frost free sillcock instead of all that bullshit?

Uhm or hear me out here just turn off the water to your outside hose bibs and let the rest of the water drown through the system before it gets to freezing temps cause then everything will be fine idk what putting a plastic cover over it will do it’s basically just creating a wind cover just turn off your water supply to your outside snd youll be fine. That $8 isn’t needed.
