the thing that always amuses me when I listen to EPIC and what really makes me chuckle here is the knowledge that Hermes is Odysseus's great-grandfather. There's something really funny to me that he's just messing with his descendant, while still giving him a hand, he just just can't be straightforward about it. Truly a chaotic grandfather move.

The fact that the laugh at the end sounds a bit like a “gobble gobble” sound effect just adds to this with your Hermes design being based on a rooster.

Also! I like how it reads that Hermes purposefully stepped on that twig to give Odysseus an excuse to finally face him. Very much alludes to his carefree and trickstery nature in a fun way of “lemme fuck with my great grandson”

There is something so interesting in Hermes being the only god whose eyes we don't see. It's such a cool visual contrast to make him seem scarier, or potentially untrustworthy - unlike the rest of the gods, who are clear in their intentions, Odysseus has no idea what Hermes is getting out of this besides satisfaction or entertainment. He has no idea if Hermes is for or against him, like every other god he's met before.

THIS IS SO GOOD
Most people don't see Hermes as terrifying (you can blame pop culture, mostly Disney's Hercules, for that), but you managed to bring out that side out of him SO!! WELL!!! And in such a short time!
The way he smiles at the end is, like. Predatory. It's scary, and it really shows that he'd be willing to strike you down if you offended him. Also, his unhinged laugh makes this even better
And the way he goes from soundlessly walking throughout the trees to purposefully stepping on a branch so Odysseus sees him, because he's a god and a god can't be seen unless they want you to... and he grabs his sword with one hand. Smiling. And he laughs. Omfg
