If you build in a flood zone, your insurance rates should be sky high.

The point is not to NOT have flood insurance but how flood insurance is assessed by FEMA rating. For instance I live by a stream that has never onerun its banks or had flooding in the house for 45 years of its life. My house was not expensive, yet I had to pay for a SEPERATE FEMA flood insurance policy of $1500 a year before I could close. I live in Virginia, , not in a coastL area, , so I c a n imagine how exorbitant th we coastal policies are. I am beginning my journey to have this reviewed.

We the people should not have to fund flood insurance for people who choose to live in flood areas. If they don't raise rates we the people will have to pay the difference.

Why don't you warn your constituents of the damage caused by geoengineering?

This is what happens as areas become too costly because of housing that are built in flood plains!

You remember when Louisiana turned down federal funds for road and highway improvements because they did not want raise the drinking age from 18 to 21, then 4 years later when all those people where causing drunk driving incidents on poorly maintained roads they were like yup 21 is a good drinking age now give us that road money, so if live in a flood zone you must rebuild at a certain height, if you cannot build at required height the government should give you the value of the land, not the structure, and should move to higher elevation and be given a property tax rebate for the new property for as long as you had owned your prior property.

Imagine that, you choose to live in a place plagued with floods and expect your insurance to not charge you more?

😂🤣😂🤣

Cassidy, how about quit building cities and towns in mud puddles then you would not have to complain about insurance companies paying out to policyholders. I am sure the insurance companies are tried of paying out every time it rains.

If the state provided flood insurance they may be more responsible with planning and development.

I feel sorry for everyone living in a coastal area. This is outrageous & wrong. Havent those people suffered enough???

I used to think people were stupid to live in those areas that they have to consistently year after year rebuild their homes, but my attitude has changed.... If you people want to stay down there, stay down there because I don't want you where I'm at., in a safe place to live.

Why should we keep rebuilding houses that keep getting destroyed by floods? Only stupid answers please

People in Louisiana are paying for hurricanes and floods, when we are not living in the coast. Insurance goes up every year.

Isn't his argument the exact opposite he would make about public health care? "Those who are at less risk should take the burden off of those at more risk"

Would probably be less expensive to just buy the citizens of Louisiana out, assist them in moving back on shore, and giving Louisiana back to the sea.

Here’s a wild thought, how about not building in floodplains?

You mean, Louisiana senator hopes that everyone else will help cover the cost of their insurance.

We were put in flood zone A 10+ years ago we had spent 20 years in a home prior to the flood zone change. Government wanted us to pay $4000 per year for just flood. Our home owners was another $2000 and due to us living in a big city car insurance ran another $1500+ a year. It had rained so little in the prior five years the ditches beside the road s hasn't even ran! Just another way for federal govt. To stick you paying for others flood problems! Lucky for us our home loan was nearly paid off so we paid it off and saved ourselves $4000 each year oh and our house has yet bro he flooded. The county/city has allowed people to build in creek areas that should not be built in. Because if greed this is causing many areas to have flood issues due to the flow of water being changed. Creed creed and more creed.
