DNC 2024: Michelle Obama slams Donald Trump over his 'black jobs' remark, 'backward leadership…'

Former U.S. First lady Michelle Obama tore into Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Tuesday (August 20) at the Democratic National Convention, criticizing his character and racist attacks that have targeted her and her husband Barack in the past. Pulling no punches, she cautioned that Trump would try to distort Democratic candidate Kamala Harris' truth, much as he did "everything in his power to try to make people fear us," referring to her and her husband, who served in the White House from 2009 - 2017. She also taunted Trump for his reference on the campaign trail to "Black jobs," which he claims are being taken by migrants crossing into the U.S. away from Black Americans. "Who's going to tell him that the job he's currently seeking might just be one of those 'Black jobs'?” she asked, drawing laughter from the crowd. The former first lady spoke in support of Harris, who will formally accept the party's nomination for president at the convention and, if elected, would be the first Black and South Asian person to become president.
