Hemsila

Hemsila, one of the finest trout streams in southern Norway, is known to be very hard to fish. With the help from Tor Grøthe, local fly fishing guide, Martin manages to land a few nice fish.

What a river and what trout! Welcome back. It’s been too long.

Here in the South of England we’re having a proper summer for the first time in well over a decade with temperatures in the 30s. It’s been so dry that the chalk streams are very low and very clear so the fish are easily spooked. The stalking of trout has to be early in morning or late in the evening with an extremely stealthy approach to have any chance. The other factor is the water temperature which has been above 20C at times - not good for the fish so it’s best to leave them unmolested. I haven’t been out on a river for ten days so a Carpe Diem video is just what the doctor ordered.
