to a beginner like me it was just satisfying to see the queen going from one corner to another. Other than that I have no idea why it is brillliant

1:24 shoutout to the guy in chat who said it would be crazy if Hans beat Magnus with Black :D

Great games..

Tal’s Q-sac with tenish turn to mate was quite jawdropper also.

I remember walking into the saint louis chess club, and this position was on boards all over the place with people talking about it

Thanks for the explanation. I didn’t understand one word of it or see any of the moves.

To think that Hikaru could probably adopt the guy who played Kg1 is just insane. Really puts chess skill into perspective. The players who've made some of the most brilliant moves and played some of the most mindboggling games ever would get stomped by the top players. It also makes me respect Kasparov even more, he not only played absurd moves and games that rank among the greatest ever played, but also was the best player in the world for pretty much 15-20 years straight. And he was 2855 at his peak, so it's not like he was much worse objectively than Magnus either. Just amazes me that someone from 20 years ago could be so close in strength to Magnus, even though he played the vast majority of his career before engines.

Plot twist: He didn't see that the rook was hanging, but got lucky.

love to have a deeper analysis of this, as a casual chess player, i dont see how it auto wins!

If he'd moved the rook to G-6, then it would have opened the Queen to a Lexington route. But King's gardens on Black's backyard, it probably wouldn't have been a good idea to bury the hedge on those hanging pawn triplets. So maybe the move to M-3 worked in white's favor, when you really think about it. Still would have loved a bonafide Kentucky Derby through the back lot. Definitely an alright move when taking the castle in Q4 into consideration. Damn do I love chess.

Pretty sure the greatest chess move of all time is Eric Hansen moving Knight to C4.

holy for like an hour i couldnt see how this was a done game with Qe2. but then after tinkering with it realized h7 is just gg no matter how it goes. I'm just amazed cause i needed an analyzer to figure this out. Even the guy that lost saw it in real time and gave his hand. like damn. I suck at this game.

So if I understand correctly the brilliant move is to quietly go king g1. I mean quietly go king g1. Quietly go king g1, right ?

Quietly go king g1
