I can’t help but feel like all these books are a bit of a bummer. What I liked about WarCry initially was how simple it was: one book, a set of cards, no list building maths, and a nice small set of units to choose from. It was simple enough that even non-wargamer friends could still get into it within a couple quick matches. Now with all these books, I’m looking at spending up to $200 AUD just to stay current

I think the big changes is some of the "Allies" are becoming leaders which I think for alot of lists will change things up alot since you no longer need to throw away points on a meh leader and a character ally and instead just run the ally as the leader. For instance the warchanter for Ironjaws and the addition of riders is going to make that faction alot more viable

As a new Warcry player this was most useful so thanks for upload! In the stream you also fielded an interesting question about best terrain for Warcry now that the original starter set is out of stock, this might make an interesting short video on its own perhaps? Its more than possible I've missed a prior video to this effect so please feel free to set me straight on this one way or another.

I'm looking forward to getting the Tome of Champions, but I'm skipping the alliance books and dice. Warcry has been the only game I've consistently played during the pandemic.

I had a little sticker shock when i contemplated pre-ordering all 5 new books... after seeing some of the early release reviews, i have INSTANT REGRET. The sneak peaks coming out are promising. Looks like Its not just a reprinting/consolidation but actually big changes to the game and all the warbands...

but people only still really need the core rulebook to participate in the game... getting the books is really only if you are interested in being an organizer of league and campaign stuff, otherwise all you really need is to 'know a guy', or load stuff up on an internet list builder and you're pretty much fine. The stats and rules are still simple thank god.

I'm getting the Sentinels of Order book, I'm building up a nice little Sacrosanct chamber Stormcast warband so it might be a handy addition to the core rulebook I bought only today :-p

You mention changes to cards and stats. Bloodbound heroes has a lot of stat changes, and some ability changes.

I am mostly an order player in AoS, just now dabbling in Chaos with Slaanesh, but for me the books are a solid deal. I have three different Stormcast warband options along with Lumineth and Fyreslayers that never got cards and only a White Dwarf release so this consolidates all of that into one source to reference and that is awesome. I will definitely get the Order tome. I am JUST starting Slaanesh so nothing is built yet but do I want that big book Chaos book for one warband? Not really no.

I can see this being good and bad depending on the player but if they start phasing out the cards that will suck for new players as it raises the cost of entry significantly and that is the biggest strength of Warcry right now.

Hello Andy. excellent and very informative video. Ive just started in Warcry as an Age of Sigmar Stormcast Eternals player so i have all the miniature. I have the all the card packs and the Core book. Was just about to order the battleplan card pack and a scenery pack to get the tokens as well. Would you say the only extra books I need to get now is the Sentinal of Order and the Tomb of Champions 2020?

Have a question, I’m just getting into warcry, just picked up catacombs as a starter box, my question is, if I buy the grand Alliance book(s) do I need the monsters and mercenaries book?, or does the grand alliance book pretty much replace the need for that?

I swear it feels like they're trying to quietly kill the game with its expensive catacombs "starter set" and now taking what should be one product and chopping it into 4.

I have pretty much bands of all the alliances and I think I won't be buying any book but the tome of champions, I had two options, buy them all or buy only the tome of champions
