FEIRA DE ESPINHO - Espinho, Aveiro, Portugal

So I've decided to make a return to Feira de Espinho, this time for a smaller video! Check out all the season fruits and feel the atmosphere 😎
The city of Espinho (Aveiro district) is mostly unknown when it comes to places to visit in Portugal. Nevertheless, in every Monday takes place the BIGGEST street market of the Iberian Peninsula! Feira de Espinho has more than a century of existence and on the 15th of August it was crowded mostly by Portuguese and emigrants as we are going to see.

I love visiting and exploring street markets! And the one from Espinho looks just so exotic! And it reminds me about the way that the "feiras" used to be on the place in where I grow up... And somehow, so different from the way that it looks today! I mean, on the street markets from here, we are no longer able to buy living animals. And there are also some weird restrictions regarding selling or buying "queijos", "presuntos" and similar things...

Anyways, in Espinho things are still just like the same way as the old street markets from here. Com as multidões, e todo o caos e emaranhados de sons, cheiros e sabores típicos das feiras de rua.

And hopefully on a near future, as soon as I get away from my "exile", I will surely visit that place! Mas não só pela feira, não só pelo oceano, mas por todo o contexto, e todas as pequenas peculiaridades deste lugar tão exótico. (Ou ao menos exótico aos olhos de alguém que cresceu além-mar)... E longe da própria terra.
