For the fourth episode of “Assassin’s Creed: Real History” we'll analyze the history of perhaps the most forgotten Major General in the Continental Army, Charles Lee.

If you have any topic requests for a future video, in which you would like me to research the real history and compare it to the game’s representation, please leave me a comment!

English subtitles are available for this video.

-Topic Choice-
I decided to re-tackle this subject to include his brief appearance in Rogue, but primarily because I wanted to dig deeper, find more information and further analyze this interesting historical figure.

-Disclaimer-
I am an amateur historian. History is not my official field of study, but rather a passion. This series acts as my hobby and as a way to share with you the real history behind characters, groups, events and locations that are depicted in the Assassin’s Creed video game series. Although I work hard to be as detail-oriented as possible, I am clearly not without fault and therefore welcome you to let me know whether you feel I have missed anything important or have misrepresented something in my video.

Monmouth was on June 28th?
Hell, my birthday is June 28.
That means I was born on the anniversary of "I'm a GENERAL! WHEE!!"

Charles Lee is by far the best caracter in Assassins Creed, especially at the second part of the game.

I’m almost certain the game developers intentionally gave him a more evil looking appearance in the 2nd portion of the game because he was portrayed as a racist power hungry Templar.

I always found it weird that Charles Lee was even a Templar at all let alone a primary antagonist in ac3. They did him so dirty in this game. When you think about it, historically speaking Charles Lee was far more likely to welcome someone like Conor into the fold then either George Washington or Sam Adams because while those two didn't care much for the local natives beyond using them as military assets Lee had a deep respect for most of the native tribes and their culture. I get that they needed a bad guy in a conflict where neither side was particularly in the wrong per say but wouldn't someone like King George or Benedict Arnold have been a better choice for a primary antagonist? I mean at least with THOSE two you wouldn't have to change much...

When video games teaches you more than school. What I meant was, you just love a character then you just search the person on your own time rather than doing an assignment in school about the character.

Charles Lee was a genius. He should've been commander of the Continental army, not Washington. Lee understand how to wage a guerrilla war, while Washington knew how to lose men and battles. Washington had no military experience and led a pathetic war effort, and wasn't a great President.

I never understood why haytham never clarified what happened to conner if he was hoping to sway conner to Lee's favour.
