Eoin Doyle opened the scoring for the visitors on 22 minutes, when he headed home Kal Naismith's cross.

Kyle Bennett grabbed his second goal in the space of a week just a minute into the second half, as Naismith again turned provider with a squared ball from the right.

Danny Rose grabbed Pompey's third, as Eoin Doyle slid a delightful ball through to him. Rose had his first shot saved by keeper Sam Walker, before finishing at the second attempt.

The fourth was a classic breakaway goal, which all started from a Colchester corner.

David Forde punched clear, Eoin Doyle picked up the loose ball, switched the play to Bennett, who first time knocked it into the path of Naismith, whose shot was parried by Walker. But on the follow up was captain Michael Doyle, who finished into an empty net.

The result extends the Blues' cushion to fourth place in the League Two table to four points.
