The crossover is the most exciting dribble play in the NBA. It took a long time for the move to get invented but the guy who made it famous is never talked about.

It was Pearl Washington of Syracuse that started the crossover dribble. While Tim Hardaway was at UTEP, he watched Washington lose a defender in a NCAA game. Hardaway decided to use that move and and he perfected it. Magic Johnson was the first to notice the move after a 1989 Warriors/Lakers game against Hardaway.
"If it had not been for Magic Johnson who mentioned it, no one would have noticed."- Tim Hardaway

Great thing about AI is that he never really made a super big deal out of his cross on MJ. He'd point out the recovery and near block too. Still a great and memorable move. His sickest crosses are on other players though because he would completely lose them and they wouldn't be able to recover.

Bob Cousy.. the 50s legendary guard .. may seem awkward by today's standards.. but he accomplished all the dribbling assisting magic even with stringent rules.. he was a innovator..

Ahhh, the UTEP Two Step. Hardaway Sr is criminally underrated

Now you can palm the ball and take 4 whole steps and continue dribbling, 😂😂😂

I laugh when people say that players from the 50s and 60s suck because they only knew how to dribble with one hand. Like those were the rules they weren't allowed to do anything else!

Bob Cousy is literally Kyrie Irving in 50's

I love how “the greatest crossover ever” is only that because it was on Jordan.

Isiah Thomas had monster ball handing skills. No one ever stole the ball from Zeke. At just over 6 feet tall he found very original ways to get to the hoop.

The NBA never officially changed the carry rule or palming rule. They just don't enforce the rules. See Rule # 10: " A player who is dribbling may not put any part of his hand under the ball and (1) carry it from one point to another or (2) bring it to a pause and then continue to dribble again."

UTEP Two-Step. Saw Tim Hardaway dozens of times. UTEP Alumnus - Class of '10, but started going to Miners games since the 70's.
