Per fire officials, at least four people have been killed in a fire at a popular seaside mall in Lima, Peru.

Miguel Eduardo Yi, a Lima fire department chief has said that the cause of the fire is still unknown, and firefighters are trying to rescue people from the Larcomar mall in the Miraflores district.

Eyewitnesses report seeing smoke billowing from the mall in the upscale district which is popular with tourists.

Officials have announced that the British embassy in Lima, which is less than a block from the mall, has been closed.

The fire has occurred ahead of a global summit which will be attended by government officials from the United States, Russia, China and other countries.
