What if nature went capitalist rogue on us, branded us a bunch of bottom-feeders and told us the free ride was over? What if all the ecosystems could band together and demand a fee for their life-sustaining, protective services? What would the price tag be?

Putting a price tag on "Earth's Services" is not a proper thing to do, because these "services" aren't done for money. It's rather the Earth system itself which intrinsically acts in the way it does and sustains/regulates itself.
It's like asking what to pay the lawn because it keeps the front yard a pretty place. These "services" are nonetheless very important and rather than pricing them, I'd call them invaluable. Maybe our economic system should try mimicking that "service" system more often... Maybe vital things should be made free too.

it´s fucking sad, we humans, mother natures most beautifull creation, the pinnacle of evolution, nature gave us inteligence, to protect her, to serve her, and what are we doing? we´re plundering her out, without merci, like some global plague, that´s affecting everything, the whole ecosystem, we wiped out more species in a century then nature would in milenia, we overfish, deforestate, overkill, we´re like a tumor to nature, like a fallen angel, trying the doom their creator....but we´re wrong, we think we´re almighty, and still, if nature would´ve wanted, she would wipe us out with a wink of an eye, and if we don´t restrain ourselves, than i can qaurantee you that it´ll happen, payback

Shouldn't people be protecting the earth even if they are not making money from doing so? E.G. Governments building more renewable energy.
