I got such a horrible vibe from Sam from the very beginning. I've seen The Sam a million times. He's the "nice guy", trying to figure out why women don't like him. He's the guy that'll tell you all the amazing compliments and how much he adores you, but if you say you're not interested all of a sudden you're an ugly w**re who he didn't really like in the first place. 🙃🙃

Sam is like an incel “nice guy”. A giant baby. An insecure person that lashes out at others when things don’t go his way

The "beggars can't be choosers" was the first definite red flag for me. The ithers uo to that point could be seen as yellow but something about that statement made me feel grossed out.

I think Sam is insecure and doesn't "know" himself. He's looking for love to validate his own value. When being rejected, I think he's legitimately hurt. But I think it's because a rejection reflects poorly on him (in his mind).

He's like Trevor in that he says a lot of surface level things that the women react well to, but he doesn't get specific. Everything is generic. I'm sure he feels those things to a degree, but I think he doesn't understand it. It was easy for him to refocus on Nicole cause he's not trying to make a sincere connection, he just wants to feel wanted.

So excited for Dr. Kirk to review this season! As an American living in the UK, one thing to keep in mind is how much less direct people here can be. When Jasmine said "I think you're only telling me what I want to hear" I knew this was her way of letting him down while hiding her real concerns. And sure enough in her confessional she was more direct "he's giving immature vibes".

I like the facial hair! Dr. Kirk has the kind of face that can rock so many looks. I’m here for them all.

I also went on "alert" when I heard Sam say "I just want to be a kid". It was almost like, I'm here to have a good time and want to only have a good time and I'm not really ready to be a mature adult, ready to settle down. That was my read into that comment.

It’s always a red flag on these shows when someone (often a guy, but there have been women who’ve done it as well) talks about his feelings toward the other person *exclusively* in terms of how good she makes him feel, how he thinks she can “give him the kind of love he needs” (Sam said this to Nicole), etc. The couples we’ve seen succeed—and obv this is an edited show, we’re only seeing what the editors and producers give us—talk to and about each other much differently, describing actual qualities of the other person as a human being, talking about how they imagine their future together, referencing things they like about one another (humor, talent, interests, values, etc.), and what they’re *both* looking for in their relationship. (Idk how it all ends, but the way Benaiah speaks about Nicole is a massive contrast to the way Sam talks about both Nicole and Jasmine.)

🚩IMHO the biggest "red flag" is him saying "this is the worst experience of my life". Really 🤔 that seems to me to be a pretty sheltered life if you've made it to late 20's early 30's. Like no irl heartbreak, , or your dog didn't die, or something you really had to overcome 🤷‍♀️

I think the thing about Sam for me is that he really does seem to be struggling- emotionally, psychologically, with self esteem issues, etc. and he’s quite literally desperate for love and care. He says himself “I just want someone to love me.” So I do have empathy for him. At the same time, his desperation for “any” love makes his connections seem ingenuine because his love doesn’t seem to be about the person or who SHE is at all. It’s merely that she’s a person who is willing and so he pursues. It’s actually really sad to me.

I'm so glad you are commentating on this season. Love is Blind just doesn't feel complete unless I can watch your videos and see your perspective!

You can tell casting was very differnt in the UK season. It seems like they chose mostly mature people, and very hot people too! In the US version it seems like obvious "drama queens" and "drama kings" are selected more often. I love it how in the UK season both guys and girls are super cute to one another, there is next to none destructive competition.

I think throwing things when upset is pretty unacceptable and a massive red flag. I know the impact that has on a relationship, I don't think we should be excusing it.

So, the slang term "mug" means a bit more than idiot - it means that he feels he has been easily deceived.

super excited that you're covering the UK season. there's a lot of differences culturally just with dialogue that I never even realized until I started to watch this season. Really liked that the pool of contestants were older so it hopefully weeded out the "solely here for the clout" contestants. The UK season was giving first season LIB US vibes and I'm here for it.

Yessss! As a Brit I'm so intrigued to see your reaction to this. It's quite different to the US version (Isn't this Dr Kirk's first international LIB reaction?)
