IMHO Yahoo Finance is indispensable. I use its charting tool mainly. I can compare as many stocks and indices as I want all on one chart. That lets me compare relative price appreciation, volatility and correlation over various timeframes very easily, quickly and visually. I also use the summary page and the financials and statistics pages. Historical data is useful if I want to look at a stock's dividend history. I scan the headlines of the news on the summary page and look at the Earnings through to the Profile in the right hand column.

Yes, you can get lost in the news, but most of it isn't all that relevant to a long term investor so it's easy to dismiss. I'd rather have it there than not, I guess. I wish the summary page included a summary of the balance sheet and total returns. I also wish there was a box to check to change the chart from price movement to total returns. I believe it only shows price movement. I don't know of any other site that conveniently answers more of my initial questions about a stock than Yahoo Finance. The screener has a lot of criteria that I consider useless, but then I've never had a lot of luck finding great stocks using screeners. Yahoo Finance screener is unique, I think, in providing its results as either a list or a heatmap.

In portfolios, you can not add stocks and there is no way to get it fixed. Yahoo does not do a good job on fixing problems and there is no way to confirm that they're working on the problem
