Super-connected motorcycle helmets with a head up display (aka HUD), with GPS and other information points have been a distant dream until lately, but now, riders can buy the $699 NUVIZ HUD system for their full-face lids and get all the tech goodness they desire. But does it work? And it is safe to have all that information on tap while riding? The answers may surprise you.

This should’ve been fitted on the clutch side so you’re not letting go of the throttle to turn on/off the display.

It’s a real step up.
But until I can get an actual HUD built into my visor I’m not interested in it.

I guess it's a good first product, but for me personally it needs the following improvements before I would consider dropping that amount of coin for one.

1. Far too large/bulky. This needs to be, at the minimum, half the size it is.
2. The controls need to be on the clutch side so you don't have to take your hand off the throttle. C'mon man, a first year rider should see this flaw.
3. For the price the speakers and mic shouldn't be just "good enough", they should be near top of the line or this isn't worth the $$.
4. Needs to be modular. It should have the ability to add additional cameras, Bluetooth them into the system, so you can add rear view or 360 view cameras.

Good first run, let's see what they do with a second generation!

Would love to see a rear-view camera feed option. For when I'm sat at lights, etc.

Wow. There's a lot going on in my helmet, but none of them seem to be about riding safety, but rather more focused on music, talking, looking at gps, and making movies. No thanks.

First off the skulls has been bought out and can be purchased now too. It’s also built into helmet not sticking out like giant blob this must weigh a good bit and only weighs down the side it’s on making helmets sit lop sided? And how long has the gen 1 been tested cause everything has flaws in the first couple gens this will be no exception

It's dope but the company couldn't have just built me a full helmet with same tech feeding through the bottom portion of my visor. I mean for $700 just give me a full lid.

better if it have Eye tracking to navigate through the modes

All I need to be fitted on the helmet is a back camera and airconditioning system. Bluetooth for smart phone too, but entertainment system can spell disaster

Problem is the same as the problem cars have. They filter out irrelevant information if they see it for a long time. Now if there would be something important behind that.. Same goes. With glares in windscreems

Some body just sent this clip to the yamaha xj900s owners club, sayin this would enhance my riding experience, ...so would 8 more valves, riding modes, auto blipper, linked servo assisted anti lock brakes, fuel injection, colour LCD display, inteligent adaptive suspesion, dual clutch, power shift, but I'm a BOOMER not a SNOWFLAKE so I don't want all that crap, keep both eyes on the road

I doubt that this HUD can be senn at this angel+ jet fighter helmets have an intergrated HUD and it works, so why this module than a helmet with a HUD on the Visor.

It's a lot of money for a company with no website. Seems the moto HUD business is cursed for the time being.
