A Look at the CU-HERE Program: Inspiring the Next Generation of Medical Professionals

2024 marks the third year of CU-HERE (Columbia University Health Sciences Exploration and Research Experience), an innovative program designed to inspire local high school students from Harlem and the Bronx to pursue careers in the medical field through access and education.

CU-HERE is a transformative two-week observership that immerses students in the dynamic world of clinical medicine and research. Participants have the unique opportunity to observe medical professionals at all levels throughout the hospital, including doctors, nurses, medical students.

The program includes hands-on experiences across various environments, such as operating rooms, clinics, research labs, recovery rooms, angiography suites, and intensive care units. Students not only witness the intricacies of patient care but also learn the importance of maintaining the highest moral and educational standards in the medical field.
