If imputed righteousness is an essential doctrine why was it only discovered in the 16th century? If we are regenerate, would the indwelling of Holy Spirit not change us rather than the thin venear of righteousness? Yes we are all sinners and will fall short of the (infinite) glory of God but there is a bar chasm between no righteousness and falling short of the infinite.
