I recall that attacking a horse in Oblivion was mistakenly coded as "stealing, " rather than its' own thing, so if you were caught attacking your own horse, it was counted as a crime against yourself and you would be kicked out of all your guilds for "stealing" from a fellow guild member.

I'll always remember this quest for one of the vocal bloopers from one of the female NPC voice actors in the unpatched game. Where there was a line left in where they comment about how different places were hit at the same night, but then mutters "oh wait, let me do that one again" then repeats the line.

This quest also presents a good opportunity to begin the Dark Brotherhood questline and assassinate the pirate captain in the Waterfront. When you enter the ship and kill the captain, the hostile pirates will be cut down by all of the guards around when you leave.

I remember that i once started the Mages Guild questline a bit late on my first time playing Oblivion (I had maxed out Armorer thanks to me grinding armor skills on the goblin caves) and when i got to that quest i had the bright idea to over-repair that staff and the game won't let me return it and my last savefile was like 1 hour before i started the quest.

I feel like this quest was vestigial from Morrowind where it was possible to make enemies with other guilds if you didn't take quests selectively.

In all seriousness, I actually triggered the Ontus Vanin glitch many moons ago, which prompted guards to fight one another shortly afterwards. A downed guard flew to his feet (literally) and arrested me.

In a world where the emperor was slain by a group of devil worshippers, the barrier between the overworld and hell is paper thin and portals randomly open to spew out Dremora hell spawns, suddenly, in the dead of night, a random Daedra approaches a guard captain from behind and says: "Begone... mortal..."

The Captain's Interpretation: Ah! It's my political supporters casually informing me that I need to get back to my post guarding the mages guild. Also the arch mage wants his hot chocolate stirred, not shaken this time...

I'm just saying, my reaction would have been a bit more... reflex based...

And my opinion, the Breton race is probably the most powerful race you get 50+ extra Magica plus you have 50% magic resistance, which makes it easy to bring that up to 100
