it's one of the worst things about being drunk, that horrible feeling the next day when you start putting together the pieces of the night before and you realise what you did or said

Humiliated myself in front of people from work the other night. Feel so ashamed. Know that you’re not alone. I’m right there with you

The one and ONLY thing people should do after this is NOTHING! Everyone does it and nobody cares. Yes people will talk the next day, but only for their own satisfaction of knowing it wasn't them. The day after, everyone forgets. Be kind to yourself first and know that nobody really cares we are all player 1 in our own game.

The worst part for me is separating what I really did versus what I imagined that I did. I have an overactive imagination.

If you feel like you did embarrassing things while being drunk, keep in mind that i:

- went to a birthday party last week and started dancing like an idiot
- started crying and telling people that i tried to off myself about a week ago
- spammed my ex with messages and calls (about 80, if I'm not mistaken)
- told a random dude at the party that i am in love with him

And keep in mind that most of these people were friends of a friend of a friend ..meaning they were strangers. i made a fool of myself .. and that was my first impression to them !!!! Cheers

We’ve all been there, don’t be to hard on yourself, the anxiety will make you think it’s worse than what it actually is

The problem is talking to people you shouldn't and say all short of things when you're drunk you're deeply depressed when you're awake you drink again to make you feel better

Id rather be a sober fool than a drunk one at least you can spot all the other fools sober ... drink vomits out all the bad stuff in your mind in full public, you lose your dignity and only give people amunition to put you in the drunken fool box, I unfortunatley have been put in that box so many times but now I've steped out of the box by quiting alcohol ....

I screamed and cried and yelled at a bunch of my friends the other night and I feel like a complete idiot. Want to quit drinking so bad.

Update 1/14/2022: Been sober for over a year! Since October 9 of 2020. I thank the support of people who are a lot like some of you in these comments. If it wasn't for my family and friend's patience and forgiveness through my ongoing recovery, I probably wouldn't have made it past 3 months. My girlfriend and I are planning to get married and my career has taken an amazing positive turn in the last 12 months. Mostly I thank God and Jesus for answering my prayers. Love to anyone else in recovery and may you find new strength.

Hope this helps someone, but always remind yourself..6 months from the time of you embarrassing incident you won't even remember anymore, and usually neither does anyone else ..it just bothers you because its fresh but so much will happen between then, and now ..so just live..it will be as if it never happen so don't breath life into it.

Thank you again Kevin, I can relate a lot to this about being rude to others the night before a heavy session, I remember oftentimes waking up the day after a night of heavy boozing and thinking to myself "Oh no, what have I said and who have I insulted this time?" etc, none of that for me anymore, I am now 17 days sober and still going strong.

I never learn my lesson. I’m officially down with drinking. I now understand why my dad never drank.

Okay if I have loads of anxiety I’ll just get shit faced to forget the anxiety I know I’ll then wake up paranoid and with more anxiety then the night before because I’ll see videos I’ve made and can’t remember I can’t remember what I’ve done Alcohol is not for me
