Zeta Kai reviews the 1/72 Tie Fighter

The TIE/LN starfighter, or TIE/line starfighter, simply known as the TIE Fighter or T/F, was the standard Imperial starfighter seen in massive numbers throughout most of the Galactic Civil War and onward. Colloquially, Rebel and New Republic pilots referred to the craft as "eyeballs."

I was stoked they put enough thought into this to include the glassless (according to spell check, yes that is a word) front canopy cover. Loved that. Agreed on the color. Looks more like a coat of primer than Tie Fighter Grey. Definitely a paint-or-nothing kit for me. Also love how they include the action base hole plug like they do with a number of Gunpla (MG Z'gok comes to mind). Very nice kit. Thanks for catching this even though it's not "Gunpla". As for favorite, the Tie Advanced (Vader's Tie) has always been mine. I always saw it as the GT-R while everyone else was stuck in a Sentra.

My fav Tie is the Interceptor also. I had the old Kenner one and also the old AMT/Ertl Snap kit.. I need to get a few of these. i only have the Tie Striker and some Xwings that are still in my backlog.. I also used Tamiya XF-18 Medium Blue for some old AMT Ties. I could see how some would like it a tad lighter than that, but it gave me the richness i wanted on them.
some info.
the ties where grey in star wars, and later went to the blue/grey in Empire/Jedi as blue/green screen technology got better.
also the flat man on the runner was a change Bandai had to do at the time since Hasbro had the right for action figures in the US and someone felt the standing pilots would put the kits in jeopardy of violating that... that is also what getting the figure kits where not available in the states for a long time. but the first kits had regular pilots on the runners.
