Lyrics:
I never asked for this burden
I never asked for this cross that I bear on my back
But like an ulcer scratching against my tongue
I can’t leave it alone
So you can find me down at the bottom
With a stomach full of stones

I can’t outrun my fate, it follows like a shadow
I put all of my faith in a saint without a halo
But I won’t die pretending I’m not intending
To see this through until I too become invisible to you

So pull me under, be sure to leave no trace
Never wonder, I see it on your face
What do I have to do to demonstrate
The way it makes me feel and think?
I feel like I could fucking suffocate
And you would barely blink
I could suffocate and you would barely blink

So I’ll sink, searching for an answer
With a stomach full of stones
These thoughts are like a cancer
Growing in my bones
I’ve made this hell my home
Never again, sever the sin from within my soul
The darker half that makes me whole

I was only dreaming
I was never here
I was only dreaming
Of how I’ll disappear

I can’t outrun my fate, it follows like a shadow
I put all of my faith in a saint without a halo
But I won’t die pretending I’m not intending
To see this through until I too become invisible to you
(I was only dreaming)
Invisible to you
(I was never here)
But I won’t die pretending
I’m not intending to see this through
Until I too become invisible to you

I long to leave the past behind
And tear out the thorn that’s in my side

Honestly, this is not only one of the best songs from Fatalism, but one of their best songs ever.

honestly honoured to be at the gig this video was filmed at. and im so glad they included the crowd lights, even if it wasn't from when they played Dissipate specifically. A bittersweet, but brilliant show that's easily one of the best I ever attended, Rest in Peace Ryan, you will be missed

Seeing this song live at Horden Pavillion was what cemented these boys as MY hometown band. Still think about that night

That spotlight drop in the breakdown at the end on the string bend was 10/10. Huge props to the lighting engineer 👏🏻

This is probably the best song I’ve heard from Polaris. Lyrically, musicality, vocally and how everything is layered and flavored. It’s just too good.

idc man, i'll admit it - when i first heard both breakdowns, i said "there is no way i am going to be in the pit for this, i am going to die". i actually got through the first one; but sure enough, when the final chorus ended, I RAN MY ASS AWAY from the middle. ain't no way i was gonna be in the middle of the hardest breakdown so far in the 2020s.

long live ryan <3 this entire album was gold.
