There was a conscious effort a few years back to not let bees die out and there are lots of beehives everywhere on the rooftops of Paris. Their presence is the sign of a healthy air quality. Plus it's totally fine if they land somewhere, you would touch a flower where a bee landed right ?
For the high carb diet, I think walking around helps and also the type of pastry you eat too. When croissants and such are made with good wheat flour and real sugar, instead of lesser quality flour and corn syrup for instance I figure you'd digest it differently.

I studied abroad in France for 5 weeks in the summer one year. I ate everything I wanted and (including a BUNCH of carbs) and actually lost a ridiculous amount of weight in such a short time.
But I was also averaging walking 7 miles a day while I was there. I’m pretty sure that’s how the French stay so thin while eating their croissants every morning. It was so easy to get around in the cities. You can walk and pretty much get everywhere. And if you don’t want to do that, their public transportation is so easy to use.
I love France so much! Highly recommend it.

You don’t put on weight because Paris is huuuuge and you walk all day. Also mayo on fries is the Feed the bees! ❤️

Bees literally pollinate most of the things we eat. If she sits on your croissant, Let her beee..

Its the ingredients. Europe has a list of ingredients that you cant put in food. When i studied abroad while in college, i ate so much food in Japan and South Korea. I actually lost weight. I didnt the same amount of walking (i live in nyc) but i ate out nearly everyday. My skin got better, my hair grew. I was eating rice for breakfast. I got back to the US and tried to keep similar habits. Fish, rice and veggies in the AM, soup for lunch, Stews with rice and veggies. I had stomach issues for weeks coming back to the US

In Bosnia we have a saying... "If insects want it then it means it's good for you" (unless it's a fly) meaning ants and bees would stay away from anything "bad" in food...

Pastries are made different in Europe. They don't have sugar, wheat, and butter substitutes like we have in the US. Our bodies are designed to digest these things, but not chemically changed foods. Weather actual chemicals or genetics, It's still a change for the natural form

And the fact that we can enjoy honey but not a bee’s presence on our croissants, they prolly just spitting some honey as cherry on top

Here in India 🇮🇳(specifically the west Bengal region) sweet desserts in shops always have bees on them and people eat them irrespective. The bees actually add to the demand to buy the sweet desserts even more! Great to know it happens in Paris too

You’ll never find a bee sitting on something dirty.

1. You did not gain weight because you walk a lot, while in the US you guys barely do that.

2. In Europe, especially in France there are many bakeries. The food is fresh and not with loads of preservative like in US.

3. Bees are amazing. We NEED them. They are not yucky like flies. 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝

Enjoy.

Smaller portions, walking everywhere, and less fatty sauces like no ranch in France. That's how you seem to eat more and lose weight. I lost 4lbs when I visited France.
