Two Huge Sun Eruptions Captured by NASA Cameras

The sun erupted last week with a massive "solar prominence" so large, it may have triggered a second eruption in one four-hour period.

Spectacular video captured by NASA shows what officials call red "loops of plasma" shooting from the sun's surface. The first eruption was so large that it expanded beyond the camera view of NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory. The event followed a major solar flare last Monday.

Fortunately, the eruption wasn't aimed toward Earth. In certain cases, flares and eruptions from the sun can pose a threat to orbiting satellites, communications, navigation, and power systems on the ground.

I couldn't have stated it better myself, Rosy. It reminds me of the line in the movie Red October... "you arrogant ass... you've killed us!" That's certainly a high likely-hood here on earth... and yet we refuse to see the forest through the trees. Nuclear will be the demise of yet another human civilization unless someone with intellectual honesty and a healthy dose of urgency intervenes on behalf of the human species. What are the odds?

The one true life giver. If there is anything that is "worthy of worship" 'it is our sun. Stars are the ONLY thing that has ever sacrificed its self so that we may be.
