The first skill gone over here (quick release shooting without first beating the defender facing you) isn't noting that such shooting situations usually require the ability to sharply curl your shot. And all three goals shown by Henry and Messi are doing exactly that.

If you haven't created a window to shoot on frame by actually beating the defender, then he's still in front of you and blocking your window, obviously, so if you can't curl the shot around him to get it on frame, then taking that early shot is pointless.

The exception to this is when the defender is being too passive and not close enough to actually block your window. But that's just bad defending.
