Even though Julio recorded his first song in English, “Rain Drops keep Falling On My Head” back in 1970, for the album Gwendolyne, it wasn’t until the year 1984 when he recorded his first ever English language album, targeted mostly to the United States and the rest of North America, where he was still relatively unknown at the time. Pressure was on Julio and his team to record an album that would make the best possible first impression on the North American audience. A significant part of the recording of the album took place in studios in Los Angeles. Julio and the team moved to Los Angeles for the recording of the album. During his stay, Julio rented a house that was owned at the time by the famous music producer, Quincy Jones, in the upscale community of Bel-Air, California.

Ultimately, after its completion, the album was named after the street address of that house, 1100 Bel-Air Place.

With the help of such artists as Diana Ross, Willie Nelson and the Beach Boys, 1100 Bel-Air Place was literally an overnight success. The duets, All Of You & To All The Girls I’ve Loved Before gained incredible popularity, to the point where it became very difficult to find anyone in North America who had never heard the name Julio Iglesias before.

1100 Bel-Air Place paved the way for subsequent English recordings by Julio. The albums Nonstop (1988), Starry Night (1990), Crazy (1994) & Romantic Classics (2006) followed, each with huge success in North America and the world.

Two Lovers is a special selection from 1100 Bel-Air Place.

Lyrics:

I thought that I was strong
I thought that I was wise
I never let my heart control my mind
I thought that I had it all
I felt my life complete
And love became a word I left behind.

And the I saw you there
My every breath slipped away
I couldn't speak,
I couldn't think
All I could do was stare.
With just one look in your eyes
I felt the room disappear
All that I could see was you...

We were two lovers,
Two people,
Too much in love to say goodbye.
Now we're two strangers,
Two children,
Too proud to say who's wrong or right.

I tried the best I could
To make you understand
Look at me I'm not like any other man
But now I've come to see
You're not like all the rest
What we had was special
We could have had the best.

When we make love
We set the night on fire
Caught up in our desire
We never said hello.
Is it as clear to you as it is to me?
We must have been out of our minds
How could we say goodbye?

We were two lovers,,
Two people,
Too much in love to say goodbye.

When we make love
We set the night on fire
Caught up in our desire
How could we say goodbye?

We were two lovers,
Two people,
Too much in love to say goodbye.
Now we're two strangers,
Two children,
Too proud to say who's wrong or right.
