This is the kind of machining content I'm looking for. Not beginner, but not Mazak machine work.

Thanks for the Master Tutorial on setting the compound for a Morris taper. We really appreciate the tips like accounting for a starting taper in the bar 👍👍😎👍👍. Looking forward to Part 3. Cheers Mate

Max, always enjoy watching your set ups. When I set up to cut something Morse taper I guess I cheat a little, I put something that already has the correct taper between centers and run my indicator across it. Machine the taper and finish it off with a tapered finish ream. I guess I should take the time to learn how to do it the right way :) Thanks for sharing Max, Gary

Gday Max, certainly did pick up some great tips, when I made the floating reamer holder I set the compound the same way, Nigel from Go Create Hobby Machineshop showed how to do this and it was spot on, bit of fiddling to set up but super accurate, the threading/boring bar you with interchangeable ends I’ve never seen before and great idea, thanks for another great video mate, Cheers

Yet another technique added to the Arsenal, thanks Max. Enjoyable and informative as always. Hope you enjoyed those few days of sunshine, back to raining again.

I recently found your channel and you are a great resource.
I have a wood lathe that I've used off and on over the years but, I have never used a metal lathe for anything but brake jobs on cars and trucks.
This past week I ordered a 10x22 Grizzly (G0602Z) and looking forward to receiving it.
I look forward to gaining some experience with you by my side!

Thanks,

Well, you certainly make that look more easy to dial in than I do 🤣. You mentioned taper in you part potentially buggering up your part, you may have just shed some light on why my last batch of mt3 tapers turned out not so great 😏. Once again, your knowledge is much appreciated mate! Cheers! 😊

Hi Max, great idea centering the dial indicator stylus using light weight ruler.
I have a light weight Chesterton promo 6" ruler given to me by a Chesterton packing salesman, have a use for it now.
Made a new quill for my lathe recently out of 4140, holding up OK.

I have to make a new quill for my tail stock. Somebody tried to repair it and bored it out too big. Not enough engagement for the MT2. Thanks for sharing, this series will be a great help. 👍👍👍😃

Just what I needed. I have the solid carbide boring bar on the way and already have the finishing reamer. Now if the darned motor for my lathe would show up I can get making the tailstock quill and main spindle for the wood lathe I'm building. I'm making the quill and main spindle from 4140 prehardened material. Not sure how the reamer will like it, so this setup was very timely. Thanks.

Hi Max, love your old school shop floor technical term of inferior quality material, then the pull the rag through method that I also know as to clear the shit out lol.
Enjoyed watching you using your feel to read the micrometer. Your lathe is too much of a metric and imperial hoch poch for my brain to decipher. Enjoyed, brill. Tony

Nice work Max and well explained. Small MT's can be a pain to do and even when you think you've got it right with the setup, the bluing shows a different story which is always due to tool deflection. Good to have a plan B up your sleeve with the reamer.
