Damn! You hear phrases like ahead of their time. Yet, only two people come to mind when I think of that expression and how it truly resonates.

It’s because who he is. Who he became that people admired and bought his paintings after death! before hand he was a broke nobody this is why it’s key to build authenticity and character with self to gain respect, power and recognition over people. People buy the product of who you are so they can feel good and connected! Life itself is a mind game at the end of the day and character plays a big part💯

Let's not forget Van Gogh came from a family of art dealers. His first job was in an art gallery his brother sold art.

I wonder where all those paintings he gave away and those he traded for food are. They are worth millions now. Whoever still has them have a treasure in their keeping.

Yeah, i would have also rejected his painting. Its looks like something my little sister would draw (she is 6 years old) . lol, this reminds me of the episode of oggy and the cockroaches. Oggy tries his best to make art, the best he can. But people dont like his painting but when cockroches mistakenly dropped some ink on the canvas, then people started to appreciate that gibberish painting. They saw "meaning" and "emotions" or whatever the words art enthusiasts use to describe gibberish painting. Yeah, i lack that artistic side where i can find meaning in gibberish, painting.

Sorry to tell you but his name is not Van Go. The pronunciation is similar to the scottish word loch like in Loch Ness. [ˈvɪnsɛnt  vɑŋ ˈɣɔx]
