Giving your labor away? Don’t most shops charge over $100 an hour while paying their mechanics $25 to $30 an hour?

Your parts pay more than the overhead. Unless of course you're calling your house, vacation, dinners out, and funding your personal investment account "overhead".

Everyone dissing this guy... bottom line yes u need to charge more for parts. Bc one as a tech we all know these parts are for shit now a days.... so i do the job that part fails then its warranty work taking up technician time and he aint making money... well we do but its not no 25 30 bucks an hour like some of these ppl are saying... so yes you guys ARE wrong. You gotta make money on both parts and make money on labor... customers dont like it but regardless same as a contractor for houses and shit u pay for experience u pay for us to work on some nasty ass rusty pos cars. Either pay or fuck off
