I in fact laughed at how simple it was, literal hours saved by a simple search and a helpful bat, thanks man!

Select object you need to modify > "Object Data Properties" (green triangle ) > Click "Display number" at the top of the window opposite the name of the object

I did this except my thing keeps saying error. The option does exist for me to do, but every time I click on it it always says: error modifier not enabled

If this does not work for some reason, turn off the "Simplify" option in Render Properties (Simplify is only visible if Cycles is enabled)

What about if everytime you click on it, it only adds MORE instead of clearing it? 😩

Thank you for this! Following along with the Blender Guru donut tutorial, I ran into this problem! I probably clicked one too many times on things I weren't supposed to. :D

Added to my watch later list because I know I'm gonna forget this. Thanks a bunch!

Nice!! Is there a way to do this with multiple objects at once? I have a modded map with about 170 objects that are like this because of how I used the Geometry Nodes 😅

For some reason when I do that it makes a new object data that will still show 2 users. Instead of cube.001 for instance it becomes cube.002 click again and it becomes cube.003; the little box still displays 2 users, and still can't apply modifiers. If I duplicate the object and re add the modifiers I still get the same error. Tried importing and appending but it seems the object itself is flawed, I want to say this could have happened duplicating and adding in edit mode but I'm not sure.
Any ideas?

Got IT!!
Had to go into the Outliner and R-click my object, and play around in the ID Data menu, sorry I can't remember which one fixed it.

Edit
Reloaded previous save to figure out how I did it without saving the fixed version... Thought I had it figured out, now I realize I was simply lucky the first time and had no idea what I was doing and I didn't save the fixed version, been playing the monkey experiment for 30minutes now without luck I'll share my findings if I can get it again.

also applies to multiple object when trying to apply scale or rotation and you get a similar error

Thanks so much for the video but what if I want to keep the objects linked? I'm new on blender yet

yeah now it's not linked anymore, but I have like 150 objects which need to stay linked, and at the same time have the modifiers applied

how the hell can someone talk that long without getting to the point? 2:38 and the next three seconds would have absolutely been enough. thanks anyways
