Aerosol Assist Positioning Guide
After installing the saliva ejector into the aerosol assist, verify the O ring inside the HVE is intact, then install. The Aerosol Assist is designed to allow for easy rotation. If it is loose, your O-ring may be worn out or missing.
Chair position is key to achieve predictable success. Any position that causes the HVE hose to bend will cause poorer performance.
Make sure to have enough slack and no tension.
A supine position is best making sure the patient's head lays on the headrest. This will decrease unnecessary tension on the HVE hose and the patient's anatomy.
When installed correctly it can be moved from one side to the other with minimal alterations.
The following are different angulations of a properly installed aerosol assist.
Notice the lack of tension visualized on the hose and patients cheeks.
When properly aligned the buccal plate is comfortable for the patient while offering stability.
