I laughed so hard when I read this part. Am I the only one who finds Nietzsche's sarcasms truly hilarious. I couldn't believe I was laughing all through the book. Really powerful work honestly.

This is probably one of the few times I disagree with Nietzsche. I feel like having force like Caesar and Napoleon but having a nihlistic, life denying worldview is no different than a weak philosophy buttressed by dialectics. If a strong philosophy can be justified using dialectics would he "bite the bullet" and say its also bad?

In my own opinion what Socrates did was to inform others of the inferiority of arguing through the Socratic method. He would take other opinions and show others how their arguments were in vain as one viewpoint was truly no better than another in a relative contrast. Especially in euthyphro we see this

When the true form of Socrates had passed and Plato’s own views took the form of what he viewed Socrates would say we see a shift in arguments and opposition that truly is of his own through his own understanding of Socratic philosophy like we see in the republic

More so I see it as a way to give commands through discussion that others would view as arguments. Socrates never gave in to arguments but rather would hold his own ground and would win through nothing more than logic

A German arguing in favor of commanding power? Wow, never would have seen that coming

Nietzsche didn't argue, he stated it

I can't agree with that. I mean, it could be what N is saying, but I seem to recall him using quotation marks around words like 'reason'. He seemed to be annoyed that Socrates was using PSEUDO-reason (eg "The 'real' tree"). If you're going to be a brute, be like Caesar and slaughter the pirates, the Gauls, and your rivals, don't hide your grab for power behind "I have secret access to what a good government looks like so should be your "philosopher"-king".

The authority to state your argument, but the lack of an ability to argue is pretty stupid. If you can't argue your position, how is your statement any more true than the other authority who makes a different statement? Doesn't this make the authoritarian an anti-intellectual?

Because he argued instead of physical attack?

Sounds stupid. What sort of "philosophy" would that be, one where reasoning is less valued than authority and power?

Nitchzsche had no power other than arguing his own one eyed philosophy 😮

But in nietzschean philosophy wouldn't this then just be a more sophisticated Will to power like the Buddhist Christians or Jews?
